PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
2009 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Welcome to the website of the Mid-Hudson Chapter of the Appraisal Institute!
Here you will find a directory of our members, who are among the most experienced and best-educated appraisers in a region that stretches from the New York City metropolis northward through the Hudson Valley and the Catskills toward the Capitol District. The Appraisal Institute is widely acknowledged as THE premier professional organization of real estate appraisers in the United States, Canada and beyond. Its designated members (SRA for residential appraisers and MAI for residential and commercial appraisers) are recognized within the profession as possessing the highest standards of ethics and competence as well as a lifelong commitment to ongoing training and education.
The Mid-Hudson Chapter meets regularly, typically on the second Wednesday of the months of March, April, September and October. These dinner meetings feature a guest speaker discussing topics of vital interest, and provide an opportunity for members and guests to share ideas and information. Guests are always welcome to attend by contacting our Executive Secretary Yvette Molinas at. midhudsonai@yahoo.com or by phone at (845) 986-4863. The Chapter also hosts a summer outing in June and a holiday dinner in December. Details on all meetings are announced here and in our newsletter.
The Chapter also provides educational seminars and courses to help its members meet their New York State and Appraisal Institute requirements. We are proud to host these educational offerings, whose excellence sets the Appraisal Institute apart. We bring in practicing appraisers from the Institute faculty to lead these affordable, highly interactive sessions. Appraisers and non-appraisers alike are welcome to take these courses – just click on “Education” on our homepage to learn more about the five courses we are offering this year. You don’t have to be a member of this Chapter to attend – in fact, taking one of our courses is a great way to experience this high-caliber community of professional valuation specialists.
In the face of the daunting economic challenges facing this region and the nation, the members of the Chapter stand ready to assist public and private clients in a broad array of assignments requiring consultation and valuation of real estate assets. To our clients and to the public who may be in need of the expertise a professional appraiser possesses, I invite you to explore our website and that of our national organization, The Appraisal Institute at www.appraisalinstitute.org, for more information about how we may serve your needs To those considering real estate appraisal as a profession, please contact any of our officers to learn about such opportunities and educational requirements. On behalf of the members of the Mid-Hudson Chapter, I look forward to our being able to serve you.
Yours truly,
Michael J. DeWan, MAI
